I had a chance to demo one a few weekends ago at The Music Zoo in NY… amazing guitars (and great folks at TMZ, too). The look is odd to this Les Paul purist (keep in mind an LP Jr is not a standard LP body thickness like these are)… but the tone is incredible.
Also, I found it oddly comfortable to play with the wrap-around tailpiece/bridge… but it makes you play, “differently”, for lack of a better word. I mean that in a good way. Your attack subtly changes and you invent things you probably wouldn’t on a “normal” LP.
At least that’s what happened when I tried one. Your mileage may vary.
If you get a chance to play one – do it. If you have the $$$$, and want a change of pace – buy one.
